The 5 minute Smoky Eye

Everyone loves to look glam sometimes, but not everyone has the time. The classic ‘smoky eye’ is perfect for dressing up any make up look, and I’ve come up with a super quick, super easy, super impressive bronze smoky eye brilliant for any occasion.

You will need:

  • A cream eyeshadow. I’ve gone for the Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eyeshadow (catchy name…) in the colour On and On Bronze.

  • A matte eyeshadow, a few shades darker than your skin tone. For this one, I use the MAC ‘espresso’ very lightly.

  • A light, shimmery shade eyeshadow, or your usual highlighter. My absolute favourite is the Stila ‘Kitten’ shadow.

  • Brushes: two for applying, two for blending.

Apply your cream shadow all over the mobile lid.

Using one of your blending brushes, blend the harsh edge of the cream shadow.

Very lightly dab another blending brush in your matte shade, and apply to the crease, slowly blending upwards.

Using a precision brush, apply a small amount of your cream shadow to the lower lash line and blend out slightly with your matte shade.

Add highlight to the tear duct area and to the brow bone using your light shimmery shade. This can be as subtle or as heavy as you so wish.

Et voilà! The perfect, simple smoky eye in less than 5 minutes. This basic technique can be adapted to suit whichever look you fancy going for. You could switch up the colours and go for something really different. You could apply a darker shade to the outer third of your mobile lid to create even more depth and drama. You could add eyeliner or lashes or anything you so wish! It’s just a great base to go on and is so adaptable.

Happy blending!
